My propensity to work against the spirit of the rules when I play D&D aggravates my fellow players and makes me wonder why I didn't score ILUE (Gremlin).

My favorite was probably the time I played a cleric who refused to heal because I was convinced that magic was a limited source in the world and I wouldn't just use it all willy-nilly. It frankly worked well in that campaign because I had a lot of points in Turning, and most of what we dealt with was undead. I forget more of my lore, but I remember it had to do with my belief in Boccob.

Gosh that was a fun game of being a Gremlin.

Anyway, I guess I'm more like Frederick Fronkensteen.

ICUG (Inventor)

The ICUG is given to solitude and shoe staring. He or she loves little puzzles and is often a good source of off-the-wall, innovative ideas. Best left to their own devices with only occasional steering (example: Leonardo da Vinci)

This seems fine to me, so I'll take it (though I wouldn't have thought this of me, but hey).

SLIG (Figurehead)
Particularly skilled at those aspects of life that do not involve thought, SLIGs tend to be popular. As overseers, they tend to adopt a hands-off approach (it obviates the need to understand things). They like things best when everyone is quietly and happily toeing the party line. Examples are common in the third and later generations of wealthy dynasties, especially among royalty.

Wait was this a real thing or a joke.

I think this is 100% which star wars character you picked.
I chose Leia.
posted by St. Peepsburg at 5:46 PM on January 1, 2018 [2 favorites]

I had the problem (and I'll bet many of you did too) where the first thing - and often the only thing - that came to my mind wasn't among the multiple choice questions. For example...

What do you understand by the sentence "An 80% solution on time is better than 100% late"
I get to do four-fifths and drink a fifth.

I like to...
Work my way AWAY from people.

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph...:
Is to convince enough people they aren't evil.

My favourite Star Wars character is...
What? No R2D2 or Chewbacca???

I need to listen to others...
Who outrank me.

Life is...
A bowl of cherries... with pits.

ILIG (Archangel )
The ILIG is the ideal person to be in charge of anything: trustworthy, effective and devoted to the cause. Unfortunately, none have yet been found. If the test evaluated you as this you are probably an ILIE or ILUE (and covering it well) or a SCUG or SCUE (and not safe to be typing on anything electrical).

Funny story: I am a CEO of a tech company. I am all of those things depending on how well things are going.

What do you understand by the sentence "An 80% solution on time is better than 100% late"

6. When I play games I try to:

Follow the rules
Bend the rules
Break the rules
Make the rules
Master the rules
Understand the rules
Understand that rules are important... for those who don't know enough yet.

I picked "make the rules", which is the obvious next task after that. But I had to mentally add "for them".
posted by ctmf at 3:57 AM on January 2, 2018 [3 favorites]

In fact, I'm trying to get the oversight people who work for me to stop citing rules at people. It's passing the buck. If the manual says X, it says that for $REASON. So understand the reason and skip the middle step. I'm not going to let you do that for $REASON.

Go ahead and argue with me. When it finally occurs to you to look up the regulation (which you should have done before I even got involved), you're going to look really stupid.

And then, they'll get trained not to argue with me. And that's when I can start making shit up.
