I so hoped this was some sort of slime mold gig

Somehow this band didn't fully nestle in and stick in my M.I.N.D when I watched the KEXP session, but something about their Tiny Desk Concert has caused a couple sections of their songs to be so embedded that it might take a scalpel to remove. It might just have been the second exposure, but their joy is pretty infectious as well.

The kxtradio performance also showed up in my RSS feeds. (You're going to be watching/listening again and again, might as well have some variety as you listen on repeat)

Given the bouncy fun of their music, I found this boring. Insipid. They sound uninteresting. The two links from Real.Wolf are so much better and remind me why I liked them in the first place.

I had not heard of them before, and I thought the more serious tone of the linked video was an excellent first impression. With all their sound effects and affectations, it would be easy to dismiss them as just a lark. But the music is actually pretty moving.
But it was that Tiny Desk that really flipped me into the new fan column. It really is awesome fun!

Yeah the tinydesk is better.

I read their Wikipedia and apparently they were a different group and this group's lead singer became a fan then a member. She is only 17.

I saw them live a couple of weeks ago and they are so much fun and full of energy. Plus, their backstory is fantastic.

KEXP is what I miss most about Seattle.

They sound like 2007 indiepop, but refreshed. Mighty earworm-y.

I'm not sure what to make of this. On the one hand, it's a little too precious. On the other, I had the thought that if David Byrne were starting out today, he might be doing something like this. Patience may be a virtue here.

YouTube recommended Superorganism's cover of Cut Your Hair by Pavement.
