What is so evocative about industrial robots in colorful clothes? Feast your eyes on Robosuits. Robo-Gear. Robot Covers.
Of course there is also video. High pressure washer. Waterjet coils. Dual arm. Pressurized dual arm.

4. A robot must look stylish, unless this would conflict with the first three laws.

Seriously though, am I the only one who thinks it's weird that literally our entire world is run by a shitload of extremely delicate and expensive electromechanical wizardry, and yet almost none of it is even slightly waterproof? Because I think that's super weird. At what point did we decide that that was OK?

My contribution to well dressed robots and less well dressed robots.

It's because when one of these come for you you can save yourself with a Super Soaker.

(Seriously, you're better of throwing a blanket over it. Computing textile folding is a very time-consuming task for a robot (ref. this sped-up video).

I wouldn't classify an industrial robot as delicate equipment. I've seen unprotected robots working in pretty extreme environments for years to no real detriment. Most of the models I work with have IP54-ish ingress ratings for the base axes and IP6X rating for the wrist axes. All major manufacturers also have additional options for more protection, of course for a healthy upcharge.
If you're working in paint shop then yes you absolutely need to cover your robot but usually its a disposable plastic cover (think garbage bag) because well, paint tends to stick to things and you wouldn't want to have to try to chip the paint off of your nice expensive tailored robot suit.
I work in this sector and I can't think of a single application that I have seen where I would recommend using one of these things. Seems like a solution in search of a problem, or maybe I have a shitty imagination.
Maybe if you made it look like a tuxedo with a bowtie and all that, or furry suits for robots, now that's something I can get behind.

I hold that the true icon of robot fashion is still the very dapper Robot Detective K.

There is something about them. They look like they are up all night to get lucky. Definitely doin' it right. Perhaps they are human after all.

This is one of those things that seems obvious as soon as I see it but I had never really thought about before. It's also somehow completely delightful.
And that set of videos linked below the fold are a little bit of editing and voiceover away from being a solid MST3K robot runway skit.

Is this where I share my photos of a robot that could spin clothing for other robots?! (Or, carbon fiber tape wrapping for extra large parts). My pics (1, 2, short video- they wouldn't waste any carbon tape just to show me, I only saw it dance around) and a more detailed NASA article and video explaining the robot. As far as I know, this robot remains naked :(

These are somehow very satisfying. And it makes me think that I could dress some objects in my house like this, and then they'd basically look like robots. Also I think maybe my coffee machine needs a bowtie now. And maybe something for the toaster...
