This is the dog equivalent of Amelie sticking her hand in a sack of lentils. Different energy, same satisfaction.

So, you know how superheroes like Batman and Captain America can instantly assess a situation, formulate a plan, and jump into action as if they've spent days training to deal with that specific situation? That's Stella and the leaf pile.

Are the leaves useful for anything?

A. They're grate, but not useful.
B. They can be taken, counted, or burned.

wait wait wait how does it end?

It doesn't. It's the best timeline loop. The dog gets out of the car, the dog leaps, the dog gets out of the car, the dog leaps...

It's the best timeline loop.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a lab jumping into a pile of leaves — forever.

This is one of those rare instances where a meme that starts to show up on my twitter feed actually makes me smile the more times it appears. 13/10 still smiling.

My grandfather used to live on a lake and had a yellow lab named Lucky. The property was large enough and the dog well trained enough that he was never on a leash. Every time we tromped down all the stairs to the docks so we could go out on the lake (usually to go fishing), Lucky would follow us down, run off the end of the dock and LEAP into the water just like that dog leaps into a pile of leaves.

What I found extra delightful is that Lucky didn't always wait for the humans to do down to the water to go for a swim. Sometimes we'd see Lucky trotting around dripping wet. My Grandfather explained that sometimes Lucky just went for a swim.

So we watched Lucky and stayed where we could see the docks and the path down to them without tipping Lucky off that we were watching. Sure enough, we saw Lucky wandering around sniffing stuff and doing what dogs do when left to their own devices.

You could actually see the idea just pop into her head that, hey, I haven't been for a swim in a while and I LOVE to swim. I think I'll go swim. She then BOLTED down the stairs and off the end of the docks, swam out into the lake, turned around and swam back, then trotted up the shore and resumed her sniffing and wandering.

Sometimes Lucky just needed a swim!

I tried to take a picture of my dog admiring a leaf, but this happened.

The end of the loop is total ASMR. I've been watching ASMR videos today because I had a dream this morning that I was in a band (I have these dreams a lot because I play in bands) and two of us took a turn to ASMR by crinkling plastic into the microphone which was a weird dream because I haven't given a thought to ASMR since that one day a year ago when I first heard about it.

How marvelously strange is the human brain to dredge up crap like that in a dream! (I watched that video seven times in a row, by the way.)

Make sure you have the sound on. I listened to it over and over again. And I'm not even an ASMR person.

SNOOOOW

Mom's Beagle Sophie loved the snow so much we called her Snowphie. She loved dragging unsuspecting hoomins through the deep drifts on the hoomin-leash, where the snow was so deep only her little black dognose poked up through the white surface. And then there was the fun of the shallow snow, which was mostly hunting for frozen cat poop.

SNOOOOW

my ex-roommate's dog Sorbo hates all things wet except snow. But he's well trained and won't go running into a pile unless you tell him to fetch something in it.
