After reveling in the Malkovichian Malkovich I looked through Sandro's other work. That is some seriously amazing photography.

Those aren't Photoshopped. Sandro and Malkovich worked together to recreate those photos.

These are extraordinary. At once, they both subvert and reaffirm those iconic photos. Some of them are truly astounding in their own right.

I am disappointed that they did not have Malkovich being John Cusack.

I enjoyed this. I disagree that it qualifies as reinventing photography. It is a great visual party for those of us who like photography as well as Malkovich, so thanks for posting, OP!

Bee-ing John Malkovich*
*Unless those are flies - it's familiar, but I can't for the life of me recall what the original photo is called and who it's by. I was trying to perform a Google search by image but no dice.

They also created this trailer for I assume an unmade film looking at David Lynch and his work called Psychogenic Fugue.

That is a fair bit of work - I can't believe how many images I recognized and now have to figure out the ones I didn't.

Malkovich makes a surprisingly attractive woman and a fantastic Joker. I really liked the re-do of the Depression-era woman with the baby. I’m actually surprised at how much he was able to look like these individual people, considering how distinctive his own features are. I’d be interested in the context of the funhouse-mirror photos, and the one of Jesus underwater, because wtf.
