Here's a story from a person who used to be afraid of bees: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Archives/Miscellaneous/2011_April_28

Aw! I have become a friend to bees this year, because I put out a couple of small water fountains for the birds and squirrels, and put a brick in one of them to give a place for birds to stand. It turns out that bees need water around here quite a lot, and so sometimes the brick has a dozen bees, honey and other sorts, standing on it sucking water up from the crevices.

When I am changing the water, they fly around me in a cloud, and sometimes get so eager that they dive in before I have rearranged everything properly and I have to gently fish them out. But they never sting me.

A few years back I often visited a park to run or walk. There was a particular water fountain with a leak that was always crawling with thirsty bees. They would understandably freak some people out but I never saw them be aggressive. You could bend over to drink and have a dozen bees inches from your face. Plus, you never had to wait in line there.

Not a bee mom, but perhaps a friend of a bee?
I used to have an old metal-tube folding chair on my balcony for smoking, with a pretty big crack on the hinge of the seat.
One day, I noticed a mason bee being very interested in my left knee for some reason. I move my knee out of the way and the bee crawls through the crack (presumably to set up eggs/ food storage).
Over that summer, the bee would be back multiple times every day - If I was outside, it'd hover by my knee, I'd move my leg, and it'd crawl into the crack.
