Okay, I just finished it. So many familiar faces (multiple, multiple times). The repeater that stuck out to me was Bradford Dillman (MST index: The asshole captain in "Lords of the Deep"). I just finished watching two movies in a row with him and it strikes me the man never played a character you didn't want to punch in the face immediately.

Also there were a fair number of Black guest stars on Streets of San Francisco -- another Quinn Martin joint. But only Starsky & Hutch was reliable.

Fans of Quin Martin Productions and bizarre Chris Elliott comedy might appreciate watching his weirdo TV special from 1986 called "Action Family." CW: it's not entirely politically correct, and pokes fun at some tropes from the '70s cop show era. But the gist is that it's a mashup between a Brady Bunch style sitcom and a hardboiled QM Production.

There were three Van Pattens in three different episodes--Dick, Joyce, and Vincent. Joyce had one of the best guest appearances on Columbo as a nun at a soup kitchen who tries to take away Columbo's terrible coat and replace it with a better one.
Also, there was apparently a cross-over episode with Barnaby Jones because two guest stars were Buddy Ebsen and Lee Meriwether. Both Trapper Johns appeared (Wayne Rogers and Pernell Roberts). So many familiar names and faces, and quite a number of Columbo guest stars, including my favorite murderer (3 times) Jack Cassidy.

After some consideration, I'm going with Jim Davis at 8:35 in the video getting the best clip. It's a tough call of course, with so many great choices, running the gamut from slightly annoyed, vaguely pleased, somewhat surprised, to blankly attentive, mixed in with the occasional slight turn of the head or shift in the eyes towards the screen, Davis' subtle eye widening upset really stands out from the crowd. (I of course discounted Morgan Paull's clip for being the only one shown in movement driving a vehicle, as that's a directorial choice, not an actorly decision.)
On the down side, Kaz Garas and Frank DeKova are completely ripped off by not even getting clips, just still shots from their episodes. They should be rightly irked by that slight if intentional, but perhaps they were booked on Barnaby Jones later that week and didn't have time to make proper clips, in which case it's only we the audience that suffers.
And Joan Fontaine? She kinda sticks out from the rest, even Anne Baxter and Martin Sheen don't quite match her history outside TV.

I also gotta wonder if that is the entirety of the guest star clips, since I can see some guest stars aren't mentioned like Leif Garrett, Shelly Duvall, or Paul Michael Glaser. Hutch gets a special clip but not Starsky? That's just sad.

I think part of the tired, sweaty look was these shows were cheaply produced, and people watched them on crappy TVs, so looking top-notch just wasn't a priority. No one foresaw these things remastered into glorious HD and viewed on 65" OLED TVs with stereo sound.

well, since somebody went and mentioned Barnaby Jones, I must now link to that curious episode that went deep with Jethro Tull's Wind Up. Also of note: remember when shows had actual intros, with musical themes and an announcer? That’s some pretty leisurely pacing with those guest-star names; in today’s world that time has all been sold for advertising, and show openers are down to a few chords and a title card.

According to Mark Evanier's blog, special guest star means the agent couldn't get their client more money, but did manage to get something - namely, their name listed as a special guest star.

I spotted two Stans from the Golden Girls! Also Jack Cassidy, who’s my favorite Columbo guest star. There’s this one episode where he’s a magician and just deadpans all of his tricks and it’s amazing. Not the tricks, just the whole everything about his act, and also the 1970s.

There seems to be a subtle change in music around the 19 minute mark, like they rerecording the theme song and made it a bit more up-tempo synth.
