Dumb, hungover students prepared her for witnesses in Congress

US Rep. Katie Porter lets loose with Desus & Mero [YouTube 18m30s] (from the sanctuary of her minivan) about constantly juggling roles, her potty mouth, being a single mom and congresswoman during quarantine, and also about grilling Ben Carson and other idiots in Congressional hearings.

It took me a full minute to parse that the title didn't mean there was a group of dumb, hungover students on her team responsible for doing the witness prep. I need coffee.

A room where people can go if they want to hear the real story seems like an idea who's time has come.

I know the Ben Carson "Oreo" story, which they helpfully provided a clip from, but what is the Mark Zuckerberg "Haircut" story?

Katie Porter is awesome. She flipped CA-45 in 2018, one of the California congressional districts that was traditionally Republican but reversed. She's looking likely to win again in 2020. Cook puts it as "likely", although it's one of the 90 races that are not a sure thing. If you like her, consider donating to her campaign.

She ran a pretty ordinary campaign in 2018 but she's emerged as a no-bullshit woman saying out loud what a lot of people are thinking but too polite to say. Her big breakout moment was back in March when she cornered useless CDC director Redfield into promising to make Coronavirus testing free.

I thought it was a dig at UC Irvine, and I thought the author had extremely wrong idea about what school he/she was writing about.

She ran a pretty ordinary campaign in 2018...

Didn't hurt that like 95% of the homes sold in CA-45 during the year leading up to her election were above the new mortgage interest threshold set by the Paul Ryan tax bullshit. The CA GOP spent like a half century screaming "ArEN't YouR tAxES tOO High???", so it really bit them in the ass when the people who tended to vote for them certainly noticed their taxes went up and exactly which political party made them do so.

Okay, that's a good interview. I keep being impressed with Porter.

At about 4:50 is the "dumb hungover students" spot and even though I was prepared for it, that made me wave my fists in the air and laugh.
