So many fantastic moments! So much joy!

This reminds me of a double-cassette tape (remember those, kids?) recording of a live duet performance in Champaign-Urbana by blues harp player/singer Peter "Madcat" Ruth and some amazing bass player whose name I sadly forget, that a college roommate turned me on to in the early 80's. He played it for me, and I was so impressed that I sent Ruth a letter (remember those, kids?) with a check (remem...oh, you get the idea) to get a copy of my own. It was an absolutely phenomenal piece of work and I lament to this day that it got lost or borrowed/never returned many years ago. I'd love to hear it again. Hook me up, MeFites, please for the love of god. I'd happily pay again for a new copy, even if it's still cassette only!

I loved this. I am a born NYer living in NY but if ever asked my favorite city, the answer is always CHICAGO. 14 years living in Chicago. Amazing memories at the Checkerboard lounge or even on the north side at Kingston Mines listening to the blues and drinking whiskey. Sweet Home Chicago usually was played later in the evening when many beverages had been consumed with an ensemble group of all the people who had played on stage that night and any others in the crowd. It was some 30+ years ago I moved there in two days notice and it still has a special place in my heart. Ah, my youth. Going to the Burwood Tap and heading home with a stop at the Wiener Circle.

Sweet home Chicago indeed!

Greg_Ace, was it Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass?

Unlikely: Duck Dunn is eight years in his grave and I don’t think this thing has been sitting in a vault since 2012.

Ah. Oops.

Do not look me; I am nobody.

So after my piteous plea above, I availed myself of the Magic Series of Tubes and found his website (which I swear I'd looked for before, but oh well) with a contact email. I emailed him last night, and he responded saying he's got plenty of copies of the tape! So I am over the moon. Or going to Chicago. Or something.

Oh, and he also mentioned the bassist was Jason Boekeloo.
