Please listen to, enjoy and maybe discuss Flux.
Poppy —singer, songwriter, musician, youtube performance artist and serial bible reader — has followed up last year's neo-nu-grindcore-metal masterpiece I Disagree with a less nu- and more alt- album, which NME calls: "determined, fun-filled and perception-defying alt-rock".

In case you missed it, you should also watch EAT (the original video was taken down, this is a Reddit upload, not sure if it'll last long) which is part of the EAT(NXT Soundtrack).

In all seriousness, this is one of the more interesting paths to watch as it goes on. The “I’m Poppy” thing, it could have just been a little moment in time, or it could have been a stepping stone to all sorts of attempts at celebrity for celebrity’s sake. Instead, she’s been building on it, turning out music that, seemingly, challenged all assumptions of what she was, and continues to do so. Watching her evolution is the best part of the whole experience.

I’ve loved every iteration of Poppy, and this is no exception. I hope this album helps her reach whatever the next level is.

“On April 17, 2018, Sinclair's former partner Mars Argo filed a 44-page lawsuit in Central California court against Sinclair and Poppy…stating that Sinclair based Poppy's online persona on theirs, as well as emotional and physical abuse Sinclair had allegedly subjected them to in the period after their separation

On May 7, Poppy made a public statement about the "frivolous" lawsuit, saying Argo was attempting to manipulate her psychologically. She called the suit a "publicity campaign" and a "desperate grab for fame".

A statement confirming that Poppy and Sinclair parted ways was released in December 2019….alleging she and Sinclair's former collaborator Mars Argo suffered similar psychological abuse.”

Previously, by me, apparently. I had forgotten all about it and didn't make the connection at first.

I loved "I Disagree" and still play it regularly. I was really excited for this album, even though I knew that, given the type of performer Poppy is, it would probably be very different from the last album.

Still good though!

re: anazgnos

I came here to consider saying this, and to probably end up posting nothing, because it feels both necessary and petty. But is is my kind of pettiness.
