Synth Britannia - Needing some music tonight to distract my pets I was inspired by this recent thread.

"Documentary following a generation of post-punk musicians who took the synthesiser from the experimental fringes to the centre of the pop stage.

In the late 1970s, small pockets of electronic artists including The Human League, Daniel Miller and Cabaret Voltaire were inspired by Kraftwerk and JG Ballard, and they dreamt of the sound of the future against the backdrop of bleak, high-rise Britain. "

Not synth related, but if you'd like to see if a dog responds to tilt it's head, play Meredith monk in the car.

This is a fantastic documentary. Captures it all. I really wish it got more visibility but the BBC loves to hide these little gems away on the island and never let them out. You can't even watch this on Britbox!

And I'm really happy for Gary Numan. When I see Trent Reznor giving him a spotlight ("Cars", "Metal") and an opening act in places, that's just awesome.

This and Prog Rock Britannia are two of my favorite music docs.

In the This is Pop episode on Netflix about auto-tune T-Pain makes the same point as Andy McCluskey of OMD - you still need a song underneath the technology to make it all work.
