which early hominid are you? A project by student saredmon19. She writes "This is a quiz made as a final project for my Biological Anthropology class. All information is based on data from the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History's human fossils information. So, which early human are you?" Via one of her professors, Marc Kissel.

I'm a Neanderthal.
Of course, my wife could have told me that without resorting to a quiz.

Homo heidelbergensis. Apparently they really liked to walk around a lot because my answers centered on that.

"It was the first early human species to live in colder climates; their short, wide bodies were likely an adaptation to conserving heat"

That strategy has not worked out for me longterm.

Sorry, I still have to sort out which Avenger, Friend, Hogwarts house, and model of car I am. I’ll get to this eventually.

That was cute. I like the choices for "What is most important in life." But "running around with my bros" was the closest answer to the one I wanted, which is "cuddling by the fire with my sweetie," so I doubt the veracity of my results, a little.

... tiny brains, large teeth for their small size, shrugged-forward shoulders, no chins, receding foreheads, and relatively large feet

one out of six ain't bad.

Annoyed that it asks about zodiac sign, super thrilled it let me choose "idk". Australopithecus afarensis -- just wanna eat snacks and hang out wherever/whenever I want.

Fun! The car question had me giggling out loud. What a cool way for a student to aly ppwhat they've learned.

Australopithecus afarensis!

Hold on, I have to take these apple slices to my kid; just gonna climb down from my treehouse so I have time to stop and get a slushie on the way. Ah, the simple pleasures.

Another Au. afarensis here!

I don't have any comments or observations about the quiz other than that the questions about a class being cancelled and changing your major were very College Student.

Yeah, yet another Australopithecus afarensis here, too.

Small brain, walked upright, likes a varied diet with occasional sweet things: girl, you know me.

After a lifetime of writing in 'bicycle' for 'what kind of car do you drive,' I am pleasantly surprised to see an online quiz where 4/6 answers for 'what car do you drive' are not cars.

Au. afarensis, but I didn't see anything about potato chips in the description.

Well I did migrate to a colder clime. And this would explain all the bones littered around my yard.

Annoyed that it asks about zodiac sign

I think it's almost a requirement for uquiz quizzes to have a question about zodiac signs, so she's just following the standard.

The really annoying question that's also always on these quizzes is some variation of "which of these song lyrics speak to you" so at least we were spared that.
posted by emmling at 6:25 AM on December 14, 2021 [1 favorite]

I guessed that the zodiac sign question was a filter for hominids that left evidence of some kind of mysticisms and/or astronomical timekeeping.

Yet another Au. afarensis (29% of results). Side-eye at some of the ?s though (impact-on-results wise). How many different results are there? The little "How do you compare" box at the end lists 6 (including homo sapiens) that totals 97%.
