I like it, he makes it sound like a King Crimson track

I love this. It's necessary.

But my favourite Puddles moment remains his straight up take on Badfinger's Day After Day. Because (war pigs of the media cycle aside) some songs just need to not be forgotten.

Just realized how long it's been since I've listened to Black Sabbath. Classical is some good stuff.

Revisited them after a long hiatus and was quite taken aback by how much less heavy they seemed than so many of the subsequent acts who cite them as an influence.

Holy crap.

For my money, the best covers are when they do something pretty incredible with a song I already love, or make me love a song I previously didn't like at all.

(both of those links are PPP covers, I'm not just straying into tangents about covers here)

Wow. His covers of Creep and Where is my Mind? are both really good. The organ on Creep, especially.

If anyone thought you can’t take a person dressed as a clown seriously, this video is proof positive that you can. His expression at the end of that video transcends the makeup and the costume. The message is the message. Brilliant.

Personally, I find this live video of Black Sabbath doing War Pigs in 1970 to be amazing. It’s the band at their peak and you have to wonder if they new it was all downhill from there. Do you know when you’re at your best? Doubtful. But really a great document. So after you watch Puddles check out this great version of the original song.

This particular live version of Sabbath's "Changes" by Charles Bradley never fails to get me and is jin the same wheelhouse for me as Puddle's "War Pigs."

Friends took us to see Puddles right before Covid. We had no idea who/what Puddles was, and they said not to google him. So wowee what an absolute delight -- and surprise! -- it all was. My favorite was his cover of Elvis's If I Can Dream.

Personally, I find this live video yt of Black Sabbath doing War Pigs in 1970 to be amazing.

That whole Paris show that it's from keeps cropping up on YouTube (and going away again). It's definitely one of those "at the height of their powers" documents.

We missed out on seeing Puddles live a few weeks ago in Toronto because it was outdoors and was (ironically) rained out.

His version of Pinball Wizard is also fairly brilliant.

Palms originally by circus composer Sxip Shirey is one of my favorites. I also really like the Mad World cover a lot.

Heh, just checked my collection. I have that full 1970 Paris video. It's pretty awesome.

I was going to comment that it was the first time I've seen Puddles play the piano, but I double-checked the credits and he wasn't actually the person playing the piano. (He did play the guitar track though.) I suppose it was just presented that way for the visuals. He did a decent job at syncing his body movements with the piano track.

If we're going with Puddles covering Ozzy, I prefer Crazy Train.
