I’ve already put a request in at my library for so many of these books that I have to wait another week to put in more requests! Great list, thank you very much for the link, toastyk. I am trying to read more books by non-Western/authors of colour.

Could be that it was published first in your country and is only now making its way over to North America, which is where Electric Literature is based. I am currently awaiting a book that has yet to be published in Canada, where I live, but came out 2 years ago in the UK.

Retroactively setting a resolution to fix my trash reading habits of late, and these lists are invaluable to that end. Already have 11 on a "must read" list now, and bookmarked this post for further expansion as the year goes on.
I've become so attached to reading ebooks over the past decade or so that my bookshelves represent what now seems like a relic of myself. It's tempting to load up on physical copies this time, but I could always stick with the comfy digital mode and just CGI the recent acquisitions into a background fit for Zoom.
Maybe next year's resolution can be to give up advertising myself by the books on the shelf...

Same, if you browse my bookshelves it's pretty much stagnated at what I read 10 years ago. Maybe I'll need to rig up a display where you can browse my Kindle library as well? I always liked looking through other people's bookshelves when visiting them, felt like a good way to get to know people.

I managed to read 25 books last year. As the kids grow I'm slowly getting back some reading time, year by year.

Glad everyone's enjoying the lists! Don't forget, if you would like to be more focused on your reading, you can also follow along with readathons and reading challenges. Someone helpfully compiled a master list for 2023 here. And check with your local library to see if they have challenges/book clubs, etc.

I am afraid I'm going to have a ridiculously busy 2023 and my reading time will be severely curtailed, but I am SO looking forward to reading a bunch of these in 2024.
OH! And this reminded me to wonder about this year's NPR Books We Love list (formerly Book Concierge?), and it looks like that got mentioned in this MetaFilter 2022 best books roundup from December 22.
Thank you for posting these great lists, toastyk! I can't wait to explore them all, and add everything to my 20-mile-high To Read pile.
