My first thought was, "no story that begins 'it starts in 2023' is going to end well."

I just kind of kept going, having lost track of what page I was on, and when I got to the next page I felt a little tricked, then I went back and read the last page a little more carefully, and noticed I'd missed the date on the Roombas.
This was nice. There's not enough nice/quaint in the world. Not everything needs to be deep or weighted down with terrible import.
