City on the edge of forever.

Edith Keeler must die
(But Spock and Cinnamon with husband Rollin contact the Committee of Temporal tropes and reports that Edith Keeler is really Nicole and her only crime was falling in love with a starship captain and a professional spy.

(Now do it like UFO!) OMG YES. For any young'uns who've never seen - please do watch.

And may the gods eternally bless Lalo Schifrin.

The opener of UFO's younger sibling "Space:1999" had:

1) A "Star Trek" like space adventure theme,
2) A "UFO" style opening segment that explained the entire theme of the show in a few quick seconds, and,
3) A "Mission: Impossible" like montage of episode teaser shots coupled with a fast-paced muscular soundtrack.

So UFO was going on in the 80’s? Space 1999 was in 1999? Where was I when all this space stuff was going on? Oh, and 2001? Who were all these techno-optimists who saw these futures in what is our past? Maybe you shouldn’t put any dates anywhere so people in the future won’t be so disappointed…

1) They used the revamped effects shots.

2) They called it "Star Trek T.O.S."

Also wow, are the UFO credits really where Hideaki Anno took inspiration for the opening to Neon Genesis Evangelion? I can see why, they're so slick and stylish!

I think you might mean

(Now [1980] do it [metafilter] like UFO [UFO])

Who were all these techno-optimists who saw these futures in what is our past?

It's not just optimists. Blade Runner was in 2019, Soylent Green was last year, and the list of awful shit that's already happened in the Cyberpunk universe is looooong.

I thought that they'd do something with Spock actually being Paris (shown here with a familiar co-star)

1980 (God damn it, where's the blink tag when we need it?!?)

When I was a kid, UFO was my first sci-fi TV show. My father died when I was four, and my mother and I lived with her parents for a few years, where there were some pretty strict rules. One was that I didn't touch the TV. I could watch things with them, but they mostly just watched the news, Sunday afternoon ball games, and Lawrence Welk.

Once my mom remarried and we moved into our own place, I started exploring TV, and somehow UFO made it to syndication in my neck of the woods. It came on Sunday around noon, a little slice of something for me between the church shows and the sports. I loved that stupid show with all my heart.

And it was uncanny how, in 1970, it so perfectly predicted what the world would look like just 10 years later, right down to the velour jumpsuits, fishnet shirts, and purple wigs for women (but only on the moon).

if we’re doing requests, XCOM edit of UFO.

Star Wars x MacGyver is still my absolute favorite because of how well done the editing is and how much the theme music just works with the content.

I know Andor is really good and lots of people like it, but I would watch the crap out of a Star Wars television series that had an intro like that.

...and purple wigs for women (but only on the moon).

Wait, the purple haired women aren't the aliens in UFO?

I guess I must dive into an internet rabbit hole and learn everything there is to know about this TV show, beyond what I have only seen as a reference in memes. See you in a couple days.

Don't be silly. They were just ordinary human women assigned to Moonbase whose service uniform happened to include a purple wig. Obviously.
