How The Daily Show Gets Made, Chelsea Handler Edition

Similar to the "exit interview" with Leslie Jones, Roy Wood, Jr. sits down with Chelsea Handler for Beyond The Scenes, post- her week as The Daily Show host, to talk about her experience there in Chelsea Handler Dishes On Tucker & Her Week As TDS Host. And WHAT a conversation this turns out to be, with Chelsea going in-depth about her process, her strengths, her weaknesses, and a lot of other things. A conversation that has so much packed into it, it seems like it can't only be 48m long.

As a bonus, from SXSW 2023, Chelsea sits down to be interviewed by everyone's favorite Press Secretary Jen Psaki [1h] to talk about other parts of her career and choices she's made.

Both these are great interviews.

I'm not a regular viewer of the Daily Show or any of Chelsea Handler's work, and knew almost nothing about her. I watched this interview out of idle curiosity about how the show gets made. There wasn't much about that, but she clearly puts a lot of effort into both being a comedian and being a voice for equality/equity/justice/tolerance for all. She's got my respect, not that she needs it.

And that goes double for anyone who can go snow skiing in nothing more than half a bathing suit! I mean, I like cold weather and all but frikken BR-R-R-R-R-R.

That Psaki interview really helped me understand someone I've always respected but never liked.

Mittens' latest turn will not endear him to her though.
