The history she can talk about as a witness

Happy Pride Month! At the end of this long month of Queer Women In Music, I'm bringing us back around to where we began. Ginny Berson, co-founder of Olivia Records, put out a book in late 2020 [Olivia On The Record, publisher link]. Being in the midst of the pandemic, the book release event was an online event [1h30m, Berson begins speaking in earnest at 24m30s]. It's a quiet and poignant look back across at a time and movement that fostered so much beyond its imagining.

And since we've crossed the musician/poet line more than once this month, I want to post these two poems by Pat Parker, which are particularly important to elmay who suggested them. And I think they're worth putting here, too: For Straight Folks Who Don't Mind Gays But Wish They Weren't So Blatant [1m45s]; Where Will You Be When They Come [2m48s, Soundcloud, caution: autoplay]

I really want to encourage anyone interested to visit the AskMe I used for much of this month's Pride posts. There's a lot there I couldn't get to, and it's all worth looking into.

hippybear, thank you for this series of posts. I regret that I have not had the leisure to enjoy them fully and sink into the links you've shared during June, and look forward to doing so and to appreciating what you have so consistently and generously brought to our attention.
