So Many Bros

I decided today that I’m going to see if I can find the restaurant with the highest number of brothers. I am on strike and have nothing better to do with my time. Please join me. Dan Amira is on a goofy quest [Twitter & Threadreader]

This is the kind of thread that doesn't get a big reaction from me at first and has me absolutely doubled over laughing by the end.

I'm going to pretend that "Twenty" is a surname. There may only be two "Twenty Brothers."

Before reading I thought this would be about finding a restaurant filled with the most finance bros, or tech bros, or most dudes who say stuff like "that's lit, bro," or "bro, you're totally killing it, bro," and it did not sound like a very fun project. Glad that the real plan is, indeed, goofy.

I wonder where the transition point is from “brothers from a single family” to “brothers from another mother”. Like if I am a dude and I open a business with my brother and our total best bro we might decide to call it “Three Brothers”, y’know?

Is the plain ' Brothers' ' inclusive of all bros? If not, which?

If it says Twenty Brothers then it is twenty brothers. Tautology be damned!

Someone's salty about having eight sisters.

That Two Brothers Pizza on Flatbush Ave in the first picture has been closed for a few years. Your brother counting sits on a throne of LIES.

For gender equity, I'll start with the Two Sisters Cafe in Babb, Montana.

Did you hear about the three brothers who got into cattle ranching together? It took them awhile to settle on a name for their new ranch. Eventually they called it Focus, because that's where the sun's rays meet.

In southern Ontario (just outside Woodstock) there is the very excellent Gunn's Hill Cheesery and their signature Five Brothers cheese, which I would (and have) happily eat by the pound. Well, 454g.

I find myself really worried for the mother of the twenty brothers.

I occasionally think about the phenomenon in especially Italian-American-heavy suburban Philadelphia, where every town has a Brothers Pizza and a Brothers’ Pizza and a Brother’s Pizza and they are all unrelated to one another

I suppose back in the day, you could have “Seven Hundred Three Brothers Coffee” because it was owned by the children of the king of Siam or some other fully haremed-up potentate. Except I don’t think royal offspring bothered with earning a living but my historical knowledge in the area is mostly obtained from dim memories of Jeopardy categories.

It was pretty amusing, thanks.

I did not know until just now that Seattle has a "Sisters and Brothers" fried chicken restaurant, but now I want to go.

Sisters And Brothers was the name of the LGBTQ bookstore in Albuquerque, long since gone from this plane.

Northern VA had a restaurant named Four Sisters (until recently, RIP) named for the four daughters of the family that owned it. I found out that the family also has a son, and I always wondered how he felt about being left out of the name... I think he did open his own restaurant tho, altho I can't find the name.
