Not what I was expecting from Neil but it was an okay look at some weird SW stuff.

The final shot reminded me that Lucas will die one day, and the deluge of bad editorial cartoon obituaries will be breathtaking.

Holy crap, I just looked it up, and Neil did not make up Sparky. (Nor MACLORD, for that matter.)

Sparky has a lot of NEPTR-nature. Or maybe it’s the other way around.

Interesting. Literally yesterday morning I was thinking about how it had been a long time since he posted anything. I saw High Moon at a little film fest in Boston this past spring and all my friends were wondering why I was somewhat star struck by the Guaranteed Video folks. Especially because High Moon was....not their best work. Nice to see signs of life, I guess?

Wow. There’s a lot of this I found cheesy fun, and a lot that made me 80s nostalgic, and a lot that was truly baffling… but the segment between around 2:57 - 3:33 took all that and then went truly bananas. Close up George Lucas ass shot! Yoda Da Man! The Energizer Bunny! Breakfast Cereal converging in space! I so, so wanted this to be a real Panasonic film and not a mashup edit. The world is a weird and wondrous place.

They should have sent a poet.

It'll be a duel between "force ghost" and "R2 and Threepio leading him through the pearly gates because editorial cartooning itself basically died a while ago."

I wondered if Sparky was a real robot you could buy, like that thing they advertised in Omni and so forth that was supposed to be able to play your tapes and pour your wine. (Assuming that ever sold.) But no, he was a mascot created by Ralph MacQuarrie.
