Is John Likeglass Still Around?

The Mystery of VelmaDinkley.com [25m] is an internet mystery posted earlier this year. YouTuber CHUPPL has lost countless hours of sleep trying to answer the questions surrounding this subject. Ruh-Roh! Does a community of Scooby Doo fans have something to hide? The ensuing investigation is entirely human and the end is entirely satisfactory.

My first thought was: isn't that a character on Dobie Gillis? ... No, I'm thinking of Zelda Gilroy.

That… was remarkably weird. And wholesome. Also weird, but heartwarming.

*tears rubber mask off producer*
Ruby and Spears' second pass at the show used Dobie Gillis as the template for the teenagers rather than Archie. The treatment retained the dog Too Much, while reducing the number of teenagers to four, removing the Mike character and retaining Geoff, Kelly, Linda, and W.W. As their personalities were modified, so were the characters' names: Geoff became "Ronnie"—later renamed "Fred" (at Silverman's behest),Kelly became "Daphne", Linda "Velma", and W.W. "Shaggy". The teens were now based on four teenage characters from The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis: Dobie Gillis, Thalia Menninger, Zelda Gilroy and Maynard G. Krebs, respectively.

I'm a little curious about the remains of those 100 decapitated bodies off Sanibel island though

He would've gotten away with it, if it weren't for these meddlin' kids!

This was a great watch but I feel like there were unanswered questions, (or did I miss them?):

The site was established in early 2000s but the person running it was named after a villain in an episode from 2017. What did the internet archive pages have for the "bio" page before 2017?

Why was that one episode unavailable to view? I was expecting them to buy a physical box set to find out what the episode was all about.

And, y'know, the 100 decapitated bodies.

I'm not a Scooby Doo fan, I'm not plugged in to the fandom, and I've barely seen any of the shows or movies. Yet somehow I was under the impression that the modern "hot Velma" (as the video commentator briefly summarizes it) trope was rooted in changing culture and fans' reassessment, not in top-down branding efforts. Am I mistaken?

It looks like the episode and the series it is a part of is a fan invention. It was probably created by somebody familiar with all the Scooby lore, and so John Likeglass would have been a familiar name.

Seems like the sort of thing Starlee Kine would have produced on Mystery Show. Super entertaining. But, yeah, should have followed up on getting accidentally sucked into fanon.
