I give it another five years before the hobbyist community figures out how to do these by hand, and you have knitting circles working in concert with a high school robotics team to create the first 100% soft fiber mecha suit.

Katia Bertoldi's research group consistently does such cool work. You could probably make a full FPP just with her group's soft matter robots and actuators.
