Citizen scientists discover weird and wonderful creatures on WA coast. Experts say the WA-first sighting of a rare crab and photos of a spectacular anemone on Broome's beaches highlight the untapped wonders off Australia's coasts.

Sorry crab, that armed anemone has my heart. My, what a beautiful creature.

I'm a bit confused about it being on the sand though. I thought they'd need to stay in water to survive, but the article says ""It can occur in the mangroves and all the way out across the sand, in the mud, and onto the reef itself." Does that mean it walks on its legs/tentacles?

Is "WA" the common term for "Western Australia?" Sorry, non-australian. My brain shouts "Washington" and I was expecting new flavors of clams.

Crustacean expert Andrew Hosie said he had never seen the crab before.

By the looks of that crab pic, that’s just the way he liked it too! Till you “researchers” had to go and ruin it. Can a crab not get some peace in this town…
