Cool suburban dads can ask for nothing more: Adam Granduciel, genius frontman of The War on Drugs is touring with The National this fall and really loves to golf (registration-free version).

speaking as someone who resembles that demographic, the web design of the War On Drugs site gave me nostalgic feelings I didn't know I had in me. I felt like Hank Hill nodding in approval.

(NB: The Zen Diagram tour also includes Lucius. I've seen all three bands multiple times - and yes, I do feel personally targeted by this tour - and Lucius is the part of this bill I'm most jazzed about, honestly. Hoping they join The National on some tracks from I Am Easy to Find.)

If you’re excited about this tour, you might want to schedule a colonoscopy and an eye exam.

I am neither a dad nor do I live in suburbia, and I am excited for this concert. And I have already had my colonoscopy and multiple eye exams. 20/20, baby! Though only an 8/9 on my BBPS.

yes yes ok i’ll get that colonoscopy. i did just get a broad-spectrum hearing exam on Friday, which i’d suggest adding to the list too.

I am (one of) the biggest fan(s) of The National. I mean, it's not pathological, buuut . . .

TWoD is good, too. I've played minigolf.

Man, throw in Future Islands and some restorative yoga and you've got a festival!

I live in a cul-de-sac, have two kids, need bifocals, hate golf, like The National okay, and haven’t really heard TWoD.

When is Lucero coming through town?

I've only really heard Lucius doing backing for TWoD and Brandi Carlile and man their voices are so damn luscious. I should totally make plans for the Bowl show.

I love my sad dad band! I love my sad dad band! (The National, that is. Not familiar with TWoD.)

Shepherd and I have this whole fictional backstory for Matt Berninger being the coolest dad at the neighbourhood block party, but only from his neighbours' perspective. He just thinks he's doing okay by bringing nice boxed wine.

The National is one of my favorite bands, but if you asked me why, I would be unable to articulate why, except to say they manage to convey how I feel most of my waking day.

I do not know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Was already coming to terms with my 20th Mefiversary being next year, but just realized Alligator will turn 20 in 2025 too, oof.

I am a white man with two kids, one in university. I just got reading glasses and played golf on the weekend.

I am also excited by this tour.

This feels like a 'cool dads anonymous' meeting.

Hey! My MeFi 20th is this November! Also, maybe there will be a Homecoming next year and they'll play Alligator . . .

I downloaded the latest TWoD album and don't remember any of the songs off it but I really like the National and would have loved to have gone to this show when they come to Toronto. Unfortunately Idles is playing that same day and I'd rather see them live than just about anyone else.
