The alter ego he created led a more glamorous existence

Enty’s Hollywood was a dark and messy world, uglier and more menacing than the glamorous town imagined by outsiders. The authenticity of this vision — and, in turn, the authenticity of his scoops — was bolstered by how pathetic he came across in his own accounts. Enty described himself as a 300-pound heavy-drinking entertainment lawyer who had been married six times, lived in his parents’ basement in L.A., and was bullied by his famous clientele — a zhlub with the right connections and a nose for dirt. In reality, Nelson didn’t live in his parents’ basement, and he hasn’t been married six times — only three. from The Man Who Gossiped Too Much [Vulture; ungated] [CW: well, almost everything]

I'd suggest "crazydaysandnights" and "cdan" tags.

On review of TFA: indeed, Christ, what an asshole. Apparently, his reaction to #MeToo putting a lot of stuff out in the open was to double down and just make shit up.

Those poor kids. Enty is an asshole, but their mom has the judgment of a drunk thirteen-year-old.

I actually remember this getting written up in...LA Times? LA Weekly back when it was actually putting out respectable stuff?...saying that this blogger knew what was REALLY going on in LA. I think I actually bought into it for about three weeks.

Early on the article name checks Elaine Lui aka LaineyGossip which contrary to the name is one of THE best “deconstruction of fame” gossip blogs ever written. It’s like insider baseball for gossip - the people behind the scenes like producers, talent agencies, stylists etc. and how celebrities mold and craft the image of celebrity, what they choose to do and say (and not do or say) or when they say things etc. it’s very insightful. Worth a read for sure!
