Is there Life on Mars?

Is there Life on Mars? As NASA announce a nuclear-powered Mars and beyond project, British scientists are looking forward to the launch of the Beagle 2 which will search for signs of life on the Red Planet.
Is this the return of the Space Race in a new form? And will they find any sign of life?
I actually work on Mars Express.
Mars is a fascinating place, but I am sceptical that it has ever had life, let alone has life now. There's a need among people to feel that we aren't alone out there. That's why the SETI program exists, and the planetary search. A lot of people are just projecting those wishes onto our near neighbour, without any justification, IMHO.
From what I've heard, it's still touch and go as to whether Beagle 2 will even be ready for Mars Express's launch.

I'm glad they're not launching it on one of these.
