I'm not sure if this has been linked here before, but these pics remind me of the work of Katinka Matson, who uses not a camera but a scanner to create her amazing images.

I was thinking that too Gamecat - scanning flowers is a fantastic technique (I've tried it myself with some success).

I've never been a fan of this sort of photography, but these are really good.
Question - anyone know how you go about lighting these subjects so that you have the vivid colour of the subject against a pitch black background?
