These "Virtual Reality Moon Phases" were created by R. Schmidt from ray-traced images of the Moon. A Clementine spacecraft mosaic of the lunar surface was mapped onto a sphere, and scenes were rendered as a virtual Sun "orbited" the Moon.
In addition to the Earth, you can also view the Moon from the Earth, Sun, night side, above named formations on the lunar surface, or as a map showing day and night. You can also make images of the Moon.

Or just check out some photos of the moon taken from the spaceships that have been there.

In related news, We Like the Moon, but we're not so sure we like Joel Veitch (of Viking Kittens fame and of Britain's Channel 4) going commercial with commercials for Quizno's.
[BEWARE! Lotsa sound.]

cool!--i was born 2 days before a full moon (explains a lot), and my 100th bday will be a 1/2 moon.

and thanks Shane--i've been racking my brain trying to figure out where i had seen the Quizno's things before

No, thank you, for reminding me to look up my birthday. It was a completely full moon (not to mention the Eastern U.S. Seaboard blacked out.) Woo hoo!

The next full moon on my birthday is also the next time my birthday falls on a Monday. That just can't be a good combination.

Very cool calendar.
