Eureka! Brain scans reveal the neural processes correlated with moments of insight. [Via FuturePundit.]
What this study shows is that when people solve a problem by 'sudden insight' instead of deliberate analysis, their aSTG shows activity. I guess it could serve as an aftereffect endpoint for out-of-the-box problem-solving. But it doesn't give clues as to how these people solve problems that way.
