Slate launches a redesign ... but I think it's a little thin, content-wise.
I thought Slate said they would never be a mouthpiece for Microsoft... I guess they lied ;)

So, their graphics server was down? Is this the launch of a new MeFi department?

Their whole site appeared to be down for more than five hours yesterday, displaying a default Microsoft IIS Web server page in its place.
As it turned out, the problem was due to a DNS error, and fixing those usually takes time because the change has to propigate throughout the Net. ECompany wrote a story about the downtime.
