To be fair, its not a straight double post. The site's been updated considerably since the first post.

And it is a very worthwhile resource to get a real sense of the tremendous scope of the destruction wrought.

True. However, the best form would have been to cite the first post and indicate that the site had been updated with some new images.

The Banda Aceh pictures are bone chilling.

True and true, caddis.

Wait. Let me get this straight. Are you trying to tell me that after an earthquake and accompanying tsunami, there's more extensive property damage and tragic loss of life than there would have been before the earthquake and accompanying tsunami? Wow. I never would have guessed that without the visual aids. /sarcasm

Zach, are you running for some jerk award that I'm not aware of?

riffraff and original poster - thanks. These images help some of us begin to comprehend the scale of destruction and loss of life that has occurred. (Those of us born without Zach's gift of perfect empathy, anyway.)

Stunning pics. Nice large dimensions, too, for spotting details.

Zach, I don't think the point is that none of us expected dramatic Before/After results, it's that the pictures provide us a visual scope of precisely how destructive and literally landform-altering of a catastrophe it was. It's historical in that sense. I though the pics were emotionally moving, too, in a strange way, and I don't mean that with any disrespect to the many, many who lost their lives somewhere between the Before & After.

Thanks for the advice! Will make sure to double-check posted links and give credit to prior listings in future postings.

And you're welcome, Tubes.
