Wapedia is Wikipedia for your WAP phone or PDA. Alternatively, why not just download the whole thing and carry it with you?

Well that's a Wikimedia link, and I don't know why it's not working.
But you can make your own.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the beautiful cultural treasure known as Wikipedia is only available for download on Windows and commercial handheld OSs, and on top of that has to be read with for-pay software? I find something deeply, deeply perverse about that.
It filthies up something I love so much. Bah!

the_savage_mind: you can download Media Wiki (the Wikipedia software) and the complete database and run it on whatever OS you have PHP and MySQL running on. Even a Free-as-in-political OS.

Actually, the beautiful cultural treasure known as Wikipedia is available for download (scroll down a bit to wikipedia.en for the English language version) for any platform at all, and can be read by any old Perl script. This time, at least, you can put your alarmism back in your pocket.

That (pda.en.wapedia.org) is a great find. It's exactly what I've been looking for for months now. Thanks.

Awesome. This is likely to settle bar arguments that I coudn't be bothered to use wap.google.com for.
By the way, en.wapedia.org ("autodetect") gave an error on my pathetically old phone. wap.en.wapedia.org works great though.

Neither of those work on mine, and my phone's only a few months old. Now I'm frustrated; this is something I would use frequently. If only I'd never seen this post...

Yes! My GPRS bill is about to skyrocket.
If you are asked about something you're clueless about, excuse yourself to the bathroom, whip out the Wiki and return a master.
Oh, and for settling arguments :D
