Have a Scar? Lots of people do. But I couldn't stop looking at the myriad variations and thinking about the myriad circumstances from which they arise once I started flipping through these arty and compelling pics...

Pity you can't see the scars. But then I'm glad I can't see this one

Is this where the little paperclip pops up and offers you samples from the thesaurus?

Funny story, though, since you seem to be interested in the sort of thing. My friends and I in middle school had this game going around for a week or two called the "abc" game. You go through the ABCs naming an animal that starts with the corresponding letter while the other scratches your hand. To this day I still have a raised line down the outside of my left hand.

Interesting stories, but aren't scars from Cluba illegal? Matt?

Photo_43: doesn't look all that bad, but the narration of what happened... ack!

Tattoos are pictures, scars are stories.

My friend recently created a book of scar stories "Scar Story" for his degree show. I've been encouraging him to get this out as a website or some other form.

The book consits of pictures of scars, along with the story behind the scar told in the person's own words.

Everyone has their own scar story. They are visible memory of each of our lives and a mark of our identity.

My scar is much worse than anything I saw on this page. I was going to post a picture to back my statement up, but somebody said pictures of scars were illegal?

Nah, just a very bad pun, and I don't use smileys.

I got that beat. I got that beat. It's a moray eel. Bit right through my wetsuit.

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
I’ve been living on the edge so long
Where the winds of limbo roar
And I’m young enough to look at
And far too old to see
All the scars are on the inside...

Although there was that rickshaw accident.

I got stabbed in the back as an eighth-grader, resulting in a small scar just under my right scapula. The knife punctured my lung giving me pneumothorax, so I was taken to the hospital for a chest tube. The scar from the chest tube is huge and ugly, the one from the knife barely perceptible.

Chicks dig scars.

Many years ago, I was jumped outside a high school dance, and ended up with eleven stitches above one eye. Our vice principal took me aside and gave me this big talk about how scars give people character. In retrospect, I think he was just trying to avoid a lawsuit.

Chicks dig scars. - DieHipsterDie

This gem I've never understood. I'm a "chick" and I've never found scars to be sexy or whatever. Scars do usually come with a story, though. I'm always interested in the story. So I guess in that way it might seem that I like the scar. But that's not what I mean by it. I'm just curious, not aroused.

"He jests at scars who never felt a wound"
Obscure Shakespeare quote, can't remember which play.

When I was in my twenty's I could count one linear inch of scar tissue for each year of my life. Now, 40 years later, they've faded to the point that they're nearly invisible. Adding a few over the years has left me with scars on top of scars. I'm tactless enough to ask other people about how they aquired their scars. A Kenyan fellow with terrible scars on the backs of both hands responded to my inquiry by saying. "I was careless once."

tomasz- Great line. Never saw it before. Hope you don't mind if I use it.
