They forgot "how to get more vacation days".

1. ask for money from readers
2. quit job
3. vacation!

I kid... funny stuff.

Funny, though, and I approve of any mocking of the functionally-retarded kottke.

This is drivel.

i made some edits, as it is a wiki, to prepare it for the scoffhards at metafilter.

with a name like fleacircus, I bet you'd have some sweet hacks to add to that list.

HA! Reminds me of the April 1 BoingBoing parody BoringBoring with their "wallmod"

I would think, this song is more appropriate listening. Or this.

But not this song, becuase this song is too funky. Unlike this post, which is not funky.

Well, it's an excellent and amusing list.

There are lots of crap blog posts out there we can make fun of. What makes this one special exactly?

Because it's from the cabal, silly.

Would I have had to read kottke to find any of these funny? Or are they intended to be funny outside of kottke as well?

Either way, don't quit your dayjob, unless your dayjob is writing comedy stuff for Wiki pages, in which case, you might want to reconsider your vocation.

I EAT POPCORN
posted by loquacious at 12:44 PM on September 8, 2005

I can't believe Jason put that popcorn hack into his blog. Was it supposed to be a joke? Who is so stupid that they don't know how to make popcorn on the stove? I think he completely underestimates his readers. The Wiki is just cruel though, and this thread just perpetuates the cruelty.

Metafilter hack: want people to read what you wrote, but don't want to self-link? Put it on a wiki!
posted by 23skidoo at 12:46 PM on September 8, 2005

Is this something I'd need a helper monkey to understand?
posted by merlinmann at 12:46 PM on September 8, 2005

this is appropriate music to read the kottke article with

It's also good music to contribute money to kottke with, so that he can continue to write crap like that.

We've got to be approaching 100 times to link kottke from the blue. Is he running out of vacation money again?
posted by norm at 12:49 PM on September 8, 2005

fenriq - You just have to read the one kottke post that was conveniently Hyper-Linked using Hyper-Text. Of course, this requires the ClickHack (in which one has to position a cursor using a mouse, trackball or light pen and push a button to hack into the datastream) but it should work in most scenarios.

Cruel to who, exactly? The self important idiot who posted a popcorn hack?

I'm with 23skidoo.

As much as Jason's many holidays as of late are fuckin' ridiculous and he needs to be taken to task, this FPP is shit and seems very much like a self-link to me.

I don't read kottke. I still cried from trying to stifle my laughs (the shoe hack got me).

User:Antifreez posited that "The only tools you ever need are WD40 and duct tape".

* If something moves, and it's not supposed to, use duct tape.

* If something doesn't move, and it's supposed to, use WD40.
...

* To lose weight, simply cover your mouth with duct tape (alternatively, lubricate your digestive tract with WD-40).
