Artistic interpretations of literary figures

Artistic interpretations of literary figures drawn by comic book artists. Personal favorites: Joe Kubert's Edgar Allan Poe, Dave McKean's Salman Rushdie, Steve Pugh's Lady Macbeth, and Alex Toth's Charlie Chan.
Wow these are brilliant!

I hope at some point they add Frank Cho's drawing of Edgar Allen Poe. It's pretty wonderful. Thanks for the link!

Lady MacBeth or an homage to Madonna? These are pretty neat.
The site navigation is kind of annoying though.

wow, so many great artists and writers. Mahfood's Burroughs is nice, and the Ashley Wood version of Hercule Poirot is great too.
i'm surprised there's no Dave Sim artwork here, since he devoted large chunks of his books to Oscar Wilde, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and others.

fenriq: I thought the same thing.
I wound up using a bookmarklet called linked pages. It helped tremendously.

Mignola's Jacob Marley, Bachalo's H.P. Lovecraft and Guerra's William Gibson. That makes me happy...
cathodeheart: would *you* want to try and deal with Sim at this point in his life?

Andy Bennett - Emily Dickenson.
[This is very, very good. Many of these are such amazing pieces - they should be selling as posters. Not in galleries - then there would be only one copy. But many copies, for everyone to hang on their walls.]

Something about that Dickenson makes me think of her in a Sandman comic...

How's this for weird? Just one artist removed from Mike Mignola's Dracula is Scott Mills' Mike Mignola. Spooky.

Martin Rowson does a better Tristram Shandy, though.
