The 64 faces of Mario. Luigi? Suprisingly, not as much of a clothes horse.

I'm honestly starting to think the entire web consists of a handful of pages that just get linked over and over on every news or discussion site, ad infinitum...

My favorite is the Chef Mario, Lincoln Mario, Bunny Mario, Mickey Mario, Gnomario, Dr. Mario, Father Mario, Devomario, Western Mario, Indian Mario, Sumario, Che Guvario, Eskimario, Elfario, Godfathario, Mimario, Jewario, Teletubario, Ronald McMario, Naked Mario, Cavemanario, and Lumberjack Mario.

But the rest suck.

Mario-themed Metafilter is the best kind.

Mario wang was the last thing I needed to see before going to bed.

Metafilter: I come here for the boingboing links.

interrobang, you hit the nail right on the head there. It's amusing to see that another two boingboing links have been posted since this one.

Who cares? I don't read boingboing. Shut up, you insufferable jerks.

But it's not just boingboing, it's every other link sharing site out there. One-link front page posts are getting to be pretty much the equivalent of people mailing this week's funny image to all their friends. You may think it's amusing, but best of the web it ain't.

I guess I'm not cool because I hadn't seen this before.

Anyway, we need a game wherein you can become all of these Marios, now. A power cigar to become Fidel Mario. LSD for one of the Sgt. Pepper Marios. That lampshade thing for Devo Mario.

I just visited bb for the first time in about 6 months, and half the stuff they have linked on the main page are things we linked here first. Several of the links (the chinese posters, the bone room) were linked here years ago. They aren't exactly on the cutting edge of linkage.

Not that we are either...

nightchrome, you've been a member here for almost a year. Total number of links you've posted? Zero. And most of the comments I've seen from you have been of the "best of the web..." variety. If you feel the quality of the links is lacking, then quit bitching about it and contribute.

The links have to come from someplace, and no self-linking is allowed. That means the material has to come from other people. In this case, I found this post on Geek on Stun, the blog of the guy that created the icons. Other blogs linked to it too? Hey, maybe they thought it was amusing, as well.

No Tanuki-suit Mario?

Personally I don't mind one-link posts that much, provided that they are also one-line posts.

I don't need a screen full of heavily pixelated images. I can dress Mario in any outfit I please... IN MY MIND!

iconomy,
Is your penis not tomato red?

Gamblor, I have not contributed any links because I feel it is better to not contribute than to contribute stuff everyone has seen already. If you're fine with single link posts which lead to a single amusing image, then I guess that's the kind of metafilter you like. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

And you just keep on contributing five hundred more mostly negative comments, nightchrome. If you're fine playing the part of Comic Book Guy, then I guess that's the kind of metafilter you like.
posted by Gamblor at 8:13 PM on October 17, 2005

They're called "comments" for a reason, man.
Negative or not, they're just comments.
A world apart from front-page-posts.

I don't ask you to evaluate my content here, but putting something on the front-page is asking for evaluation by the people who read this site. Actively searching through someone's comment history for stuff you disapprove of is a whole other ballgame.
