A trek through India...

A trek through India... A friend took a month-long trip to India armed with his camera. He stopped at the periodic internet cafe to post to his diary. I took the liberty of compiling the posts and photos on a blog for him. If you haven't seen india from the inside, take a moment. It's worth it.

This post was deleted for the following reason: no self linking rule is pretty absolute.

Maybe it's just barely possible to argue that it isn't a self-link, since it's somebody else's content?

I want butter on my popcorn... lots of butter.

alright, if you guys want to dog-pile me, i guess that's ok. it's not my content, nor did i write any of it, and i posted on my own, not at the behest of the writer, so please leave him out of it if it's gonna get dirty...

Well, at least it's original. I mean, it's not like anyone's done this before is it?

Did you friend spend any time playing elaborate psychosexual headgames over the phone with the employees of Indian fast food resturants? If not then I'm going back to the thread below this one. Rowr.

Also it would help if you had an email in your profile and/or a url that wasn't just the word "marble".

I say it's only technically a self-link and we should let it stay for insights like this:

The rickshaw rides are like your worst ny taxi experience times 10. What else...People pee and crap everywhere right in front of you...they don't have trash cans, so lot's of garbage everywhere. Don't worry the cows will eat it.

jb5dogs... it is interesting, and the pictures are good. But I think the no-self-linking rule in FPPs is pretty absolute. We all think our own creations are absolutely wonderful and that the entire world should see them. This has virtually no correlation with their actual merit. :)

Probably best to link this kind of thing in a comment in a related thread... if someone else thinks it's incredibly great and worth creating as a FPP, then so be it. Otherwise, well, you'll be forced to languish in obscurity, fame and fortune just tantalizingly out of reach. Life sucks that way.

You may escape the banhammer if you grovel sufficiently. If I were the moderator, I'd probably remove this but not ban you.

I still say cut 'im a break. Grade the content, not the source. I can't quite get into this myself, since Mr. Spencer inundated us with his slides from his trip to India when I was in 8th grade.

Get a load of that, there's no self-link option in the flagging system. Hmmm.

This is a self-link and your friend is, judging from his comments, a jackass.

Oh, and this isn't "India from the inside". This is a Westerner going backpacking. Yippee.

Isn't this what MeFi Projects is for? Why yes it is! Even if it is yet another backpacker travel blog. Or maybe we should all just post our friends' holiday snaps...

ok,

really sorry everybody.

it's not my project, it's not my content, it's a guy i know and admire... so i collected his writings and photos while he was away, then created a blog for him, posted the content and handed over the riegns...

not that it matters, but there is a post in the comments of the blog by an indian living in america. he seemed to get the spirit of the blog and was appreciative...

anyways, i'd rather not take part in my own lynching, so bye...
