Sorry to continue a derail....but wrt "literally" -- next time there is a natural disaster, especially an earthquake, tune in to the news and you will hear over and over, "The highway [bridge, overpass, house, old lady] literally collapsed."
Why? Why why why? We see the video, we know how earthquakes work, we realize that the collapse was not figurative!
