Discussed also on Daily Kos.

Particularly amusing quote from article:
"I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy....I was able to get a sense of his soul."

The official Kremlin biography asserts Mr. Putin obtained a "Ph.D. in economics" in 1997 from the St. Petersburg Mining Institute, but his thesis was for a "candidate of sciences" degree that is considered at least an academic class below a formal doctoral degree.

Just fyi, the Russian candidate of sciences *is* generally considered equivalent to a PhD.

So they're saying Putin had a friend in Minsk
Who had a friend in Pimsk
Whose friend in Omsk
Had friend in Tomsk
With friend in Akhmolensk?

Putin should thank his lucky stars that George Bush exists. He's a stooge, and idiot and a hack. As far as I'm concerned, this is the least embarrasing thing about KGB Dima.

uh, gesamtkunstwerk, I'm no big fan of Putin, and he's sure fucked up enough, but he's also got a near monopoly on political power in Russia and still has tendrils in most of the FSU. 'Evil fucking autocrat?' Yes. 'Idiot?' No.

Nicely done, dilettante.

Let no one else's work evade your eyes!
Remember why the Good Lord made your eyes
So don't shade your eyes
But plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize but always remember to call it please... "research."

Tom Lehrer, where are you when we need you now?

Even so, he probably shouldn't put it on his resume.

Putin would make a nice Bush appointee. Or a WP blogger even.
