I was pretty down about this since I heard last week. The weirdest part is to see his plank weblog just sitting there, left in mid-flight, just as he left us.

We're all so young in this business, and death is so far from everyone's mind. I didn't know Ben very well, but we'd exchanged email a few times in the past about web design issues, and I read his smug columns.

I'm sad to see he's gone though.

I didn't know Ben..I'm sorry for your sorrows, those who knew him.

I've only ever encountered death once online. A friend from Boston who I'd met had scanned some photos of a racecar for me, and we'd gotten to talking about Boston. We were going to meet for a beer next time I was there. It never happened - he had a cramp attack while swimming in a pool in 1997 and he drowned.

I'm glad for the short amount of time I knew him.
