The Guardian has compiled a list of their top fifty arts videos, the majority being from either rare or obscure sources and uploaded onto YouTube.
Dear World,
Please stop uploading things to youtube. The quality is beyond terrible. Other services like Vimeo look so much better and cost the same. Thanks.

wowee zowee! Feast is right. Hard to choose which one first. Just watched Billie singing Strange Fruit, stunning.
omg, I loved seeing Madonna's first gig at Danceteria, when she still had some fat on her and looked beautiful.
So many gems, Nuryev, Plath, the Firebird. Just amazing. Nice to have them in one place. Thanks djgh.

Dear World,
Please stop making lists of things. I understand when you can't write an article you write a list-icle, but it's getting ridiculous. Thanks.

Dear unwashed masses,
Please consider only reading fully formed, well researched and proofread articles. kthanks
Seriously though, there's a reason why People sells more copies in a week than the New Yorker does in a month. The folks just like easily digestible information.
Great list by the way. Perfect for hung over Sunday morning reading. Thanks. Especially liked the Nabakov and David Lynch interviews.

Thanks much for this, djgh.
Dear dda,
You have duly impressed us with your infinitely superior sensitivity and exquisite receptiveness to only the very finest of video quality. Now please allow the rest of us lower mammals to enjoy these riches in our pathetic way. Thanks.

Dear dda,
Just had a wee break from MeFi - been busy at work. Great to see on returning that some users are still locating and posting avalanches of awesome content, and others are still finding something about it to piss on.

Unfortunately, when culture accelerates and there is way, way more going down than one's brain can grasp (or certainly, communicate), lists become a very functional and useful form of shorthand. I get some of my best ideas and experiences from exploring the stuff of other people's lists.

I can't believe the Guardian overlooked the clip of a 14-year Jimmy Page on television playing skiffle with his band in 1957!

Im not pissing on this FPP. In fact its great. So great it actually does make me angry that everyone still uses youtube when superior zero-cost alternatives exist. I really wish google/youtube would wise up and raise the size and quality levels of its videos. Im a little worried that all the stuff uploaded to youtube has created a huge disincentive to ever publish these videos in an acceptable format in the future.
