Oh man, I miss QSL cards.
I was really into ham radio from when I was nine until twelve (I got my Extra at eleven) but as I got older I realized that most of the hams who were on in the area were bigoted old farts.
It's a shame, really.

dunkadunc, my experience too. Got a tech plus license, went on 2m with a HT, only to be roundly chewed out by some shriveled bastard because I hadn't built my rig from chicken wire and chewing gum. Then wifi came along, and my whole reason for getting the license - packet - went away.
