The length of some of the monster write-ups on Wikipedia makes me happy, even if some seem to be written by fanboys on a caffine binge. Also, the video makes me happy. Thanks!

My 7-year-old son has been into Ultraman for the past few years. We have stacks and stacks of DVDs relatives have burned for us dating back to the 1960s UltraQ shows, plus a ton of picture books with encyclopedic detail about every single monster and Ultraman avatar. The detail he memorizes is just astounding.

I liked the long line of Ultraman judges.

Hey I saw that on TV the other night! All of the monsters were auditioning for the director to be in a new Ultraman movie. Okamura has been doing his character Pressure Seijin for a long time on MechaIke, so he joined the audition and made a farce of the whole thing. But in the end, he's an excellent dancer The monsters overcame competition and petty squabbling, and finally all the monsters got into the movie. There's a little preview for it at the end.

Thanks for deciphering it, donkeymon. I Googled "プッレシャー星人" (presumably Okamura's MechaIke character) hoping to come up with some sort of monster and couldn't find anything.

Man, those monster suits are awesome. I may need to, er, "consult" the internet availability of these Ultraman series.

Like donkeymon, we watched that the other night. The entire show was hilarious. The idea was essentially that Okamura-san's character was essentially a noob, and the other monster's didn't like him. You see a bit of it in the recap section, but most of the show the other kaiju were beating the snot out of him. Lot's of tripping, pushing, and a couple well placed surprise drop kicks.

For some reason, mascot violence has always been the easiest way to make me laugh. Now, though, I've found a new, funnier form. One of the best bits, shown briefly in the video, was Red King. He would, when Okamura-san did something/said something stupid or wrong, start beating his head against the wall in abject rage, then try to charge Okamura-san, with the other kaiju trying to stop him. Tears rolling down my face, it was hilarious.

I love Okamura-san! He's such a funny little "ossan" and a fabulous dancer to boot!

I'm sure you've all seen this it, but I'm still obligated to post a link to Indian Thriller, the greatest Thriller after the original.
