Mexican modernist silversmith Antonio Pineda has died. Here are some samples of his work. A photo rich interview with him in Taxco dates from 2005.
wow his stuff is gorgeous. I love shopping for silver jewelry when I am in mexico but I dont have anything as magnificent as his work.

Very sad, but what an incredible artist he was. Back in the early 60's my dad bought my mom a silver cuff made of Pineda's, just like the one on the 'worked' link, except with onyx rather than amethyst. It's such an unusual design, very chunky and ultra modern, in the mid-20th century sense of the word, and very striking looking on a woman's wrist. Here's more pictures of Antonio Pineda's work, and an interview.

Absolutely gorgeous jewelry/art. The silver and azur malachite necklace at the bottom of the first page of the 'photo rich interview'...STUNNING.
