Lesbian Air Force sergeant outed by local police. When police came to her home to arrest her partner, Jene Newsome was "uncooperative" so, allegedly, the police outed her to the AF and forced a discharge. Alternatively, perhaps it wasn't because she was uncooperative and they had other, less open-minded, motivations.

A U.S. Air Force spokesman, Senior Airman Adam Grant, said Ellsworth follows all laws set out by Congress and the Defense Department, and he would not comment specifically on Newsome's discharge, citing privacy policy.

I don't really think I was editorializing...I made an effort not to, and to bring multiple possibilities in it...although maybe I'm missing a third possibility that was more altruistic?

Wow. Shitty, shitty behavior on the cops' part.
Also, I know I shouldn't be reading comments on news articles, but I was surprised by the relative level of decency in those ones, compared to the usual standard.

If you'd told me twenty years ago that the 2010 Air Force would let people have eyebrow piercings but wouldn't let lesbians join, I would've thought you were out of your mind.
