Everyone talks about how CAP should review the Bible, looks like someone did it for them. For those who don't know what CAP is just pick a movie and read the fundie commentary.

I'm surprised he hasn't included the outrageous scene of implied incestuous bum-rape (Genesis 9: 21-22), or the mysterious episode of penis-torture and "foot"-touching (Exodus 4: 24-26).

Yes, I've always said the Bible was not fit for children's eyes. People may say, "Oh yes, but it's only in the Old Testament one hears about all the incest, rape, and pillaging," conveniently forgetting that the central event of Christianity is a pretty extended act of torture (whipping, mocking in the public square, forcing a bunch of thorns down on the head, carrying a big wooden cross and then getting nailed to it). Then of course are all the nifty martyrdoms in the Acts of the Apostles (I'm reading the episode of Stephen being stoned to death right now). Then the Book of Revelation -- do you =really= want kids reading that?

(Which reminds me, one of the sickest pieces of kiddie lit is Left Behind: The Kids)

Heck, I'm Catholic, and I think I'm gonna go the normal route of having my children color pictures of Noah's ark and sing "Jesus Loves Me" for years before they're allowed =near= the Bible. It can be pretty toxic stuff.

Emily's review of Right Behind Ya for Kidz is simply sick:

I thought that this book seemed very imaginative, when the truth is that it really will happen one day.

This book made me want to become a REAL Christian for fear of this happening to me.

There is no merit in a religion which causes its adherents to utter such seemingly acceptable superstitious balderdash.

How about people's belief that comes from superstition has no merit? It's not the religion's fault some people are superstitious and chose it for the wrong reasons.

Last year, wrongwaygoback did a CAP-like review of the Book of Genesis that was a little more serious.
"This is NOT a book review service. It is a book review analysis service to all people to tell them the truth about books using the Truth. The Book of Genesis is subject to exactly the same criteria and scoring system as is applied by CAPalert to movies, and that includes making no allowances for messages. It is not created to be anti-Christian or anti-Church, but rather to expose fundamental contradictions within CAPalert logic. It is essentially a Christian review model, derived from The Bible, and applied to The Bible. "

CAPalert is how I chose my movies. If if the movie doesn't score above a 1 and get a red light rating, along with endless scripture quoting (that actually have nothing to do with what their talking about) I son't watch it. Pretty relyable way of choosing, in my opinion.

I'm just curious. Does it all concern you to teach your children a belief structure without the context of the belief structure. I think that if you're going to teach them about Jesus, and such, then shouldn't it be done with all of the stories. Just wondering what your views on this are, because I wasn't raised with a real religious background.

Sexual intercourse presented itself, though covered by a bedsheet as if as a bedsheet over moving bodies hides much. Even body folds were obvious. Not good!

ROTFL!! Well, what did they expect from a movie with a name like that?!
