Oh no, not again. U.S. Capitol being evacuated; New York airports shut down. Breaking news from CNN.
You NEVER keep the most powerful people together. They NEVER fly together and are only at functions together when absolutely necessary. This is SOP (standard operating procedure).

Can't we just come up with some sort of advanced video chat type thing for the world leaders? This would increase safety and minimize reaction time. Assuming it was hacker safe. Why has NY airport been shut down?

CNN - Capitol all clear, no "hazardous materials" or some such. Just another threat, I suppose.

Salon: The Capitol was evacuated late Thursday afternoon as Congress debated President Bush's request for emergency powers in the wake of Tuesday's devastating terrorist attack.
There were reports that a suspicious package had been found in the building. The Senate was evacuated first, then the House of
Representatives. Television audiences watched as elected officials and aides stramed down the Capitol's marble steps, though the evacuation appeared to be a calm one.
"I haven't seen the Senators this close in many years," joked Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., to CNN.

Bin Laden usually strikes twice. If that wasn't the second hit (as I assumed for a moment), I'm wondering what the next target will be...

The “two attack” thing only has one other precedent in the embassy bombings.
The attacks are over, folks. Calm down.
(“Are over” meaning America won’t be attacked again for months, at least, and years more than likely.)

It will be quite easy to continue to instill fear in the American public by calling in bomb threats, unfortunately each one has to be treated as if it's real. Who knows if these calls are by terrorists, or just sick f*cks who think it's funny and want to see their work in the news.

I haven't searched for a source for this info on the net, but I just heard it on the news (NBC, I believe). Seven men were arrested at JFK airport, after boarding a plane bound for California (LA, I think). Something happened inside, and the plane was de-boarded. 5 people, claiming to be pilots, were questioned by the FBI. They had 5 commercial pilot licenses, all of which turned out to be coutnerfit. Speculation is that either they were attempting to flee the investigation here, or were planning another attack.

I'm betting that the last few days has not seen an increase in bomb threats, but instead in the level of caution with which we take them.
Right now, no one wants to be in the news as the guy who received a bomb threat but incorrectly decided it was a hoax...

raaka, that's a pretty bold claim to make with so many lives on the line.
I don't think anybody can claim to know whether the attacks are over or not. Not government officials, not security forces - and certainly not random people on random web sites.
