That definitely seemed to be a stress reaction. I feel sorry for her. Sneeze (histamine reaction) = embarrassment (stress reaction) = histamine = stress = histamine = stress....ad infinitum.
I think that the teacher should have let her leave the classroom after the fifth sneeze. That would have limited the stress conditions. posted by In The Annex at 9:29 AM on October 1, 2011
I've been suck in a sneezing pattern like that before. It's misery. And, yes, embarrassing and stressful.
Also very snotty. posted by PapaLobo at 9:32 AM on October 1, 2011
My guess is this was a library or study hall environment with no/minimal supervision. She seems to find it humorous toward the end of the clip. I wondered it it wasn't a reaction to an allergen. There really isn't enough time for the stress/histamine cycle theory is there?
I too feel sorry for her, but it's still funny. I put myself in her shoes and I'd still be laughing. posted by cjorgensen at 9:32 AM on October 1, 2011

There could be if you've lived with it all your life. I dunno...maybe it was strictly an allergen. posted by In The Annex at 9:39 AM on October 1, 2011
No doubt, this video was recorded and posted by class-mates making fun of and taunting this girl.
Now, it is posted on sites like this - so even more people can laugh at her.

If I thought that was what was going on I wouldn't have posted it. posted by cjorgensen at 5:17 PM on October 1, 2011
She wouldn't stop sneezing into her hands either. posted by silby at 6:06 PM on October 1, 2011
cjorgensen, I know someone who has had the hiccups for something like 15 years. He lectures daily. Before he told us, I thought he just had a strange accent or cadence to his voice. posted by sarae at 5:45 AM on October 2, 2011
This woman was just on Inside Edition. The video was taken by a friend of hers. There are now other videos of her doing this and she's turned it into fundraising for the American Lung Association. There's even a Facebook page now. posted by cjorgensen at 5:25 PM on October 22, 2011
