And here is a completely different mariachi band playing Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2.

Mariachi cover bands are a theme today in my house.

There's a fine line between stupid and clever.

I can dig it.

I so wanted this to Mariachi tunes in a heavy metal style. But no. It never even occurred to me it might be the other way round. That, I'm afraid, is the difference between awesome and annoying.

Metalachi rocks !!

Their music is not for sale at iTunes or other obvious music websites.
Where can I find a torrent or some download of the music?

Flood, all I found was a recent Kickstarter page (here) asking for help to record their debut album and do some touring (and they did raise enough to do it). That's why my links are just to live YouTube videos, because that's all there is out there right now!

I dig it. I hope they can make it last longer than Dread Zeppelin.

Awesome. But I'd go for unSane's suggestion in a heartbeat, too.

Mariachi makes everything better. And my neighbours hate me now.

Damn. I'm on a phone getting ready to go on stage so i cant listen to the post and was dissapointed to learn it was Metal done Mariachi because the other way around would be Morricone + more awesome.

I can't click on the link right now, but i'm sure it can't be as bad as the Andean panpipe band I saw covering "Hotel California" for the yahoos at the Bangor Folk Festival. Don't stoop to their level, guys. You're here to bring some culture to this backwater.

I'm just puzzled as to why all the links are trying to use SSL...?

And, yes, they're annoying.

The cover of Ace of Spades legitimately amazing, the rest, decidedly less so. Still, I'd be up for catching them live.

This music kicks ass. I love it, thanks for the post.

Watching these, I came to a terrifying realisation: metal and mariachi, in perfect conjunction, sort of become ska. Now I don't know what to believe.

Love the idea, love the light up hats, but may I make a couple recommendations:

1) Drums. No, drums don't belong in mariachi, but they don't belong in string quartets or a capella either. They're sort of critical for metal.

2) Cover Metallica. The world will never tire of new renditions of "Master of Puppets", "One" and "Nothing Else Matters". Never.

The macho shirtless violinist who plays all the guitar leads really cracks me up.

Dude. How did you miss Sweet Child o' Mine? Or Crazy Train which is worth it just for the solo?

I, for one, thank you for this. My family, however, does not.

This is made of win. :)

Stuff like this is what brings me some ethnic pride. (Normally, I'm like, "Yeah, I'm a Beaner but I was born in the USA to US Citizens. Yeah, I'm a snob when it comes to the food, but don't even try to talk to me in Spanish 'cause I won't understand!")

I came here to say what unSane said, except with more force and probably curse words. I am now totally jonesing for incredible shreddable heavy metal guitar covering standard mariachi (or ranchera, or whatever, I'm not really picky) music.

This inversion is a perversion and I won't tolerate it.

I can pretty much guarantee that if you head over to mefi.music and request it, it will be done.
posted by unSane at 12:12 PM on October 29, 2011

I found it hilarious that the mariachi's usually couldn't keep a straight face through their covers.

I wish they'd play down here (Mexico)...I know they'd be loved. Thanks for this.

but may I make a couple recommendations

They do Master of Puppets – I think it's one of the FPP's links.

Not sure if it's one of the ones you linked to, but the Bon Jovi sing-along was excellence squared. I want to see these guys live. Hell, I want them to play at my office Christmas party.
