Loaded for me. Also David Eagleman's isn't so terrible. It's something you'd at least recognize as a Giraffes.
Also, given the level of scribbling, I wonder if a lot of these weren't done at booksignings or something, where the scribbler was pressed for time. posted by delmoi at 4:09 AM on January 13 [1 favorite]

I like the Wall of Shame for people who turned her down. Number 5 on the list:
Former MN Governor and Conspiracy Theorist Jesse Ventura. June 2011. When approached at a book signing for 63 Documents the Government Doesn’t Want You To Read in Rosedale, MN, his reply was a simple, “I don’t know what a giraffe looks like.” No comment.
I take issue with this idea, because I think everybody should draw giraffes. Giraffes are totally awesome to draw, because they look like something that was designed by someone who didn't quite know what they should look like to begin with. posted by xingcat at 4:30 AM on January 13 [6 favorites]
I approve! I, too, ask people to draw giraffes for me!
I got Chuck Palahniuk to draw a giraffe for me once. It was super-nice of him, because I was at the end of a really long line at a book signing. This was after the audience disappointed him because no one got sick during his reading of "Guts." It is actually a pretty decent drawing of a giraffe, and he included a black tongue. I should find that when I get home from work.
I also got Jeph Jacques and Jeff Rowland to draw giraffes for me, but they probably don't fall under the category of "people who shouldn't be drawing giraffes." posted by giraffe at 6:14 AM on January 13 [2 favorites]

I'd forgotten about the One Million Giraffes project. The main link in the (previous) thread is down because the project site moved to onemilliongiraffes.com.
And the good news? "Jørgen was wrong." - the site owner did collect 1,000,000 giraffes. posted by rh at 7:03 AM on January 13
If anybody needs a sockpuppet username, Pithy Giraffe seems to be available. posted by schmod at 7:05 AM on January 13
I like the fact that people on the cutting edge of scientific enquiry can't draw nearly as well as people who lived in caves 32,000 years ago. posted by bonobothegreat at 8:29 AM on January 13
GiraffesLions were never native animals of Southeast Asiathe internet in recorded history. As the result the depiction of lion in ancient Southeast Asianinternet art, especially in ancient Java, is far from naturalistic style as depicted in Roman or Persian art counterparts, since the artist whom carveddrew the lion sculpturegiraffe doodle never saw the actual liongiraffe before, and all based on perception and imagination. posted by filthy light thief at 9:46 AM on January 13
Yeth. That Philip Glath giraffe is pretty pithy alright. posted by yoink at 9:51 AM on January 13 [1 favorite]
I ask for people to draw me a sheep. It's a rare thing that they (correctly) draw me a box with airholes. posted by Capt. Renault at 11:33 AM on January 13 [1 favorite]

Didn't Bad Spock Drawings kinda do this type thing first? I like them, but then again I can draw Spock quite badly (and have there and will offend so again). posted by Shane at 1:06 PM on January 13
symbioid, that is adorable.
I think everyone else who posts in this thread should draw a giraffe. posted by Dr. Zira at 3:57 PM on January 13 [2 favorites]
